Deep in the Amazon jungle, when it floods, it's a time to celebrate. Because only then can the indigenous tribes paddle their canoes far into the rainforest to gather the world's richest source of natural vitamin C - Camu Camu berries.
For centuries the locals have understood the nourishing and healing properties of this remarkable plant. Now they have a double cause to celebrate. The Synergy Company, in cooperation with these native people, has drawn from this timeless wisdom to bring you an all natural, wholefood vitamin C supplement - Pure Radiance C.
To complete the picture, a forest containing Camu Camu is worth twice as much to certain Amazonian communities than cutting down the trees and grazing cattle. Thanks to your commitment to optimum health, these communities have the chance to create a sustainable economy based on their ancient tradition of wildcrafting Camu Camu berries.
Delicately hand harvested, these berries are processed in a way that safeguards the naturally occurring vitamins and valuable co-factors. But there is more to Radiance C than Camu Camu alone.
Radiance C is a unique combination of Camu Camu and concentrated Amla berries, another eminent source of vitamin C, wildcrafted in the Himalayan valleys and one of the most revered and regenerative herbs in Ayurvedic medicine. To these berries are added a blend of organic, phytonutrient-rich, freeze-dried blueberries, raspberries, cranberries and cherries together with organic rose hips and lemon peel. The result is a superfood with highly beneficial co-factors such as bioflavanoids, quercetin, hesperidin, anthocyanins and proanthocyanins that can activate powerful antioxidant activity.
Nor does the formula end there. Freeze-dried organic buckwheat berry sprouts add naturally occurring rutin, another important vitamin C co-factor. While bioperine, a black pepper berry concentrate provenly enhances the body's ability to absorb vitamin C.
The health benefits of taking vitamin C are well documented - but only if the vitamin comes from a natural source. One vegetable capsule of Radiance C provides 200% of the RDA of vitamin C. Because it is a wholefood, you will absorb far more of the natural goodness.
The latest cure for depression has been discovered... by accident. Dr. L. John Hoffer was trying to cure cancer patients with various vitamins and nutrients. Instead, he stumbled onto a new remedy for depression... and it's not vitamin D.
Most doctors treat depression with drugs or psychotherapy, but emerging research suggests there's an all-natural solution. Dr. L. John Hoffer accidentally stumbled on the truth while working with cancer patients at Jewish General Hospital in Montreal. He was examining ways that vitamins and other nutrients might be used to treat their disease.
He noticed that one vitamin in particular was helping them... with depression. Cancer patients have good reason to feel "down." And many become clinically depressed.
Vitamin D has long been linked to depression. But Dr. Hoffer's cure is vitamin C. He put it to the test with a clinical, double-blind study and the results, published in the journal Nutrition, were even better than he expected.
For 7 to 10 days, he gave a group of acutely hospitalized patients vitamin supplements – either vitamin C or vitamin D. He found a significant statistical improvement in the patients taking vitamin C.
They felt happier and more engaged in life. They enjoyed better moods more often... for longer periods of time. They also felt able to deal with their negative emotions if they became depressed.
What about the patients receiving vitamin D? None showed any improvement.
"This looks like a true biological effect," says Dr. Hoffer. "The treatment is safe, simple, and cheap. And could have major clinical practice implications."
"Earlier studies, both in our hospital and other centers, demonstrated that the majority of acutely hospitalized patients have subnormal levels of vitamins C and D in their blood," adds Dr. Hoffer. "But [they] are rarely given vitamin supplements."
Now, he's convinced that vitamin C offers genuine hope for those with depression.
Dr. Hugh Riordan also supports using vitamin C as a treatment for depression. He believes that vitamin C is effective against depression because it increases serotonin production. That's the brain chemical that improves mood and promotes relaxation.
"Medical text books [used] to indicate that one of the most common effects of inadequate vitamin C is depression," says Dr. Riordan. "But we very seldom go to a psychiatrist who measures our vitamin C level."
Dr. Riordan points to other studies that link depression to vitamin C. In one, 40 psychiatric patients were given one gram of ascorbic acid every day. Over the course of the study, researchers recorded major improvements in mood. Depression and manic symptoms decreased greatly. Most patients reported a big improvement in overall well-being.
The Natural Way to Combat Depression
You probably know that oranges, strawberries, and kiwi have high concentrations of vitamin C. But the fruit with the most vitamin C – five times as much as an orange – is the guava.
Vitamin C is also available in supplement form. Dr. Riordan used just 500 mg a day with his depression patients.
We believe the best Vitamin C on the planet is Pure Radiance C. It comes in 650mg vegicaps and powder form.
