Ginseng Korean Herbal Complex

Korean ginseng is a member of the Araliaceae plant family and is also commonly known as Asian ginseng, Asiatic ginger or in China as ren shen, meaning “man root”, as it resembles the shape of the human body. It is a deciduous, herbaceous perennial indigenous to North Eastern China and Korea, and although it is now rare in the wild it is cultivated extensively. The plant has oval toothed leaves with a cluster of small green-yellow flowers and red berry-like fruits. Since it is a slow-growing plant, taking four to six years to mature, cultivation requires great skill and therefore ginseng is expensive to grow. In China, ginseng has been treasured since the dawn of written history, traditional use dates back to more than 5,000 years.

According to the Chinese sages, ginseng replenished the vital energy and promoted health and longevity. Ginseng is widely recognised in the Western world and has been extensively researched for its adaptogenic properties. Adaptogens are generally termed as compounds that may maintain the body’s health by helping the body to adapt to changing internal or external stresses. They are thought to work through the support of the glandular, immune and nervous systems. The dried root of the herb is commonly used in herbal preparations.
