Press release - Travel with a Chillow and keep cool

Travel may broaden the mind but it can also bring with it a whole host of unwanted ailments including backache, sleepless night in hot hotel bedrooms, headaches, swollen feet, sunstroke and sunburn to name a few. However a new personal cooling pad called the Chillow is set to become the traveller’s favourite companion.

The Chillow is a thin, cushioned pad (made from medical-grade, hypoallergenic, non-toxic materials) that people can lie, sit, stand or lean on to take heat away from the body and help keep the user cool.

Like many great inventions, the Chillow is remarkably simple. It works on the principle that water conducts heat away from the body 25 times faster than air - which is why people feel cold when they come out of a swimming pool.

The patented internal core absorbs ordinary, natural tap water to take heat away from the body and dissipate it into the air in the same way that a car radiator keeps an engine cool.

Developed primarily to help to induce sleep by preventing overheating in bed, the Chillow also provides soothing relief from fever, aches and pains, hot flushes, injury and irritating skin conditions such as sunburn and acne. (It is particularly beneficial within oncology where cancer patients undergoing radiation and chemotherapy suffer from severe overheating. The Chillow provides them with instant, non-evasive relief.)

The Chillow works without power, chemicals or refrigeration. It remains permanently at room temperature (usually 10 to 20°C below body temperature) and unlike gel-pads, which have to be pre-frozen, it is soft not hard, dry not wet, cool not cold.
