Q. Any problem if I take more than 4 drops in one cup'
A. No.  But if you put more than 4 drops in one cup, you may taste some bitterness to the high concentration of minerals.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Q. Are there any negative side effects'
A. Some people report minor headaches for a couple of days in the beginning.  It could be a sign of detoxification.  The Japanese have been drinking alkaline water for over 50 years without any side effects.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Q. How long does a bottle of AlkaLife® last'
A. A bottle of AlkaLife® can last up to 2 months if taken 20 drops a day (per person).  There are approximately 1200 drops in a bottle.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Q. Can I use the AlkaLife® Drops in Reverse Osmosis or Distilled Water'
A.
The answer is yes.  But there is something to note.  RO filtered water and distilled water are acidic because the water is so pure, it leaches carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.  When you put AlkaLife® drops in it, the carbon dioxides act as a buffer and the pH will not go up.  Interesting to note, if you put the recommended dosage of AlkaLife® in a pot of water and then boil that pot of water, the carbon dioxide will evaporate and the water will maintain the alkaline minerals, resulting in high pH alkaline water!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Q. Can children drink alkaline water with AlkaLife®'
A. Yes, but reduce the number of drops per day in proportion to his/her body weight. E.g., 10 drops a day for a child of 60 lbs. with the new AlkaLife, or 2 glasses a day with the recommended dosage of 4 drops per 8 oz. glass.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Q. Does AlkaLife® replace my medications'
A. We are not medical doctors and are not familiar with all medications.  Four drops of AlkaLife® (new and improved flat bottle) added to a glass of ordinary drinking water changes the water to alkaline water with a pH value of 9.0 to 10.0 depending upon the original source of water.  Alkaline water made by AlkaLife® has neither nutritional value nor any medicinal value.  All it does is to neutralize the excess body acid and improve blood circulation without any blood thinner.  Alkaline water is not known to adversely affect any medicine.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Q. I am using AlkaLife® regularly. It makes sense to me, and I know that good health comes with keeping the body's system alkaline. However, when I read the brochure, it says that one of the ingredients in AlkaLife® is soap! It does not seem natural to me to be putting soap into my body. Is this 'soap' found in our food supply, or am I taking in something foreign to the human body'
A. What the brochure says is that one of the ingredients in AlkaLife® is an ingredient found in soap.  The ingredient I am talking about is sodium hydroxide (NaOH).  No, you are not putting soap into your body.  Baking soda (NaHCO3) is sodium hydroxide plus carbon dioxide (CO2).  It is not something foreign to the body.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Q. What if I get AlkaLife® in my eyes'
A. As the warning on the bottle says, all you can do is to flush the eye with regular water.  We had a few people who did that in the past, and that is the reason for adding the warning on the bottle.  They reported, however, that after the pain and redness had disappeared, they noticed that the eye disease symptoms had also disappeared.  This is due to the fact that bacteria that live in the moisture of the eye (an acidic environment) cannot survive in a strong alkaline environment. To the best of our knowledge, no one that has made that similar mistake has received any permanent damage to the eye.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Q. How does alkaline water help me'
A. Alkaline water has no nutritional value to give us energy or medicinal value to cure any disease; it neutralizes the acidic waste in our body.  Acidic waste thickens our blood and impedes blood circulation as we age.  By neutralizing and reducing acidic wastes, alkaline water improves blood circulation.  Improvement of the blood circulation gives us more energy and eliminates many disease symptoms.  Alkaline water is the most natural way to improve our health without any medicine.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Q. How much water do I need to drink and when'
A. The recommended dosage is (5) 8-10 oz. glasses of water with a pH of 10.0 per day, but you can drink more and it will not harm you. Any excess alkaline mineral intake will discharge in urine.  In order to maximize the effectiveness of your alkaline water, drink it between meals and in fasting (before breakfast). When drinking on an empty stomach, it allows for a maximum production of bicarbonates in the body.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Q. How long do we need to drink alkaline water'
A. As long as we eat food, we produce acidic waste; therefore, we need to take in a high pH alkaline water or bicarbonate enteric coated tablets to keep our bodies balanced.  Environmental pollution, stress, and lack of sleep, all contribute to acid production in our body.  If we want to live, we need to replenish those bicarbonates to the blood stream.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Q. Isn't stomach acid going to destroy the alkalinity of the alkaline water'
A. Yes and no.  For a more in-depth understanding of stomach acid and alkaline water, please read article #3 "Alkaline Water and Stomach Acid", in the "Science & Health" section of this Website.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Q. What is the difference between alkaline water made by a water ionizer and that made by AlkaLife®'
A. They are the same as far as the effects on neutralizing acids, as long as the pH values are the same.  The difference is the alkaline minerals in the water.  For more information, please read articles #7 "Water Ionizer and AlkaLife®" and #13 "Myth of Organic and Inorganic Minerals" in the "Science & Health" section on this Website.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Q. Is hard water bad for health'
A. Hard water is water with a high content of calcium.  It leaves scale residue inside the water pipes and is bad for washing machines and dishwashers.  People use water softeners to replace the calcium with sodium to lower the water's calcium content.  Hard water is healthier for the body than soft water; therefore, a respectable water softener company brings a separate pipeline to the kitchen for drinking water use.  If you have a water ionizer to make alkaline water, hard water will provide strong alkaline water.  However, extreme hard water could shorten the life of the water ionizer.  My educated guess is that extremely hard water is highly alkaline and does not need a water ionizer; a simple charcoal filter could do to produce healthy alkaline water.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Q. Is it safe for me to use acid water on my skin'
A. What I said in my book is, 'I rinse my body with acid water after taking a shower.'  Healthy human skin is acidic by God's design to kill bacteria.  The dirt accumulated ion the skin is acidic.  We use soap to wash dirt away, but this also removes the acidity of the skin.  To replenish the acid on the skin, I rinse the skin with acid water.  Acid water is made by the water ionizer that makes alkaline water and acid water by splitting alkaline minerals and acid minerals from the tap.  AlkaLife® only adds more alkaline concentrates to the water to make the water alkaline, so it cannot make acid water, nor can it remove the acid minerals in the water.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Q. What is wrong with drinking baking soda water' Isn't that also alkaline water'
A. Baking soda is sodium bicarbonate.  Adding it to drinking water does not raise the pH value of the water.  If you drink it, the hydrochloric acid in the stomach will react with it and reduce the sodium bicarbonate to sodium chloride, sodium salt (NaCl), and water and carbon dioxide.  You just increased the salt intake. Since it does not increase the stomach fluid pH, the stomach will not produce hydrochloric acid like alkaline water does.  It is the production of hydrochloric acid by the stomach that also produces bicarbonate and interjects it to the blood stream as a byproduct.  Drinking baking soda water does not help the body but just add more sodium salt to the body.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Q. Is it OK to boil alkaline water'
A. Yes.  Unlike acid minerals, alkaline minerals do not evaporate under heat, that's why we can add AlkaLife® drops into coffee, tea and even cook with it, and still get the benefits of alkalinity!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Q. What is the shelf life of Alkaline Water'
A.
The shelf life of alkaline water depends upon the grade of plastic material in which the water is poured into.  The primary reason why the pH value goes down is due to the infiltration of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere through the plastic. After consumption, the lungs can exhale the carbon dioxide from the water, and partial alkalinity may be restored.  On the other hand if you use a glass jar, the shelf life can be as long as up to several months.

Q. Does a mother's milk pH change if she drinks alkaline water'
A. No.  Drinking alkaline water does not even change the pH of the blood. Therefore, the milk pH does not change. What does change in the mother's body, is that she adds more bicarbonates to her blood. One cannot supply alkalinity to a baby giving the mother alkaline water. The baby has to drink it. I recommend to feed the baby much diluted alkaline water to start with, such as 4 drops (new improved AlkaLife®) in a quart of water and gradually increase it to 8 to 12 drops in a quart of water.

Q. I have read in the book that milk is an alkaline food. However, in all the reading that I have done, milk is considered acid. A friend of mine has a bad case of acid reflux and uses prilosec and milk to calm his stomach. He is also diabetic and was told to switch to soy milk as an alternative. He is reluctant to do so because he feels better when he drinks milk. What is the deal with milk and how does it relate to acid reflux, and is it alkaline or acid' What is the true answer'
A.
Milk tests acid by a digital pH meter; however, the acidic part is an organic acid, "lactic acid."  When burnt, the organic acid portion becomes carbon dioxide and water.  The remaining inorganic mineral is calcium.  We all know that milk contains calcium.  Milk is classified by Macro-biotic society as an alkaline forming food.  What remains in the body is alkaline.

Q. Can I give alkaline water to my dog/cat'
A. Yes, animals also create acid waste after they eat.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Q. I wanted to ask about the PH test strips you can buy to test saliva and urine PH. I have some and am wondering how accurate of an indicator they are in regards to the blood PH that Sang Whang talks about in his book. My husband's saliva tests as very alkaline (first saliva in AM). Should he also be doing the alkaline water'
A.
You are dealing with two very nebulous items.

In my experience, the pH test strips are not accurate at all.  Some test strips are made for buffered solutions only, and some have very limited range.  A very accurate digital pH meter measures the blood pH that I talk about with the accuracy of plus or minus 0.01 accuracy.  Hospitals and research labs can afford them and can maintain the calibration.  For water pH measurements, we use a liquid pH tester with a color chart that comes from Japan.  This tester is accurate as it parallels with digital pH test readings.

The next is the so-called 'saliva test'.  Saliva pH is a function of many variables and we don't believe it is an indication of a person's alkalinity.  We tell our distributors not to use saliva pH tests to sell AlkaLife®.  Anyone getting old should drink alkaline water.

Here at AlkaLife International, we do not find that testing urine and saliva for pH is accurate. The reasons being:

Body fluid pH constantly fluctuates in order for the body to find and maintain homeostasis.  Thus, you could test urine and/or saliva, and 30 seconds later, it could be at another extreme (there is absolutely no accuracy to this type of testing).  Also, once the body fluids are exposed to the atmosphere, the oxygen and carbon dioxide become variables affecting the pH of that fluid, so it is not accurate.

Really, what should be tested when it comes to an accurate pH reading in the body is the bicarbonate levels in arterial blood.  These levels can only be tested by a medical doctor or lab, and the procedure is a painful and costly one.  At this time, at AlkaLife International, we are working with medical doctors on a new procedure that could be more simple and less costly' and could eventually be a home test.  But this procedure is not available on the market at this stage.

Q. I don't like to drink water, can I put AlkaLife® in my tea or coffee instead'
A.
In actuality, yes you can, but it is ideal to put AlkaLife® in water with a pH of 7.0 in order to achieve a pH of 10.0 when adding AlkaLife®.  If you don't have the discipline to drink the recommended dosage of water daily, then you may want to try Bicarb-Balance' or e-Cal' as you can take two tablets in the morning, and you're done for the day!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Q. If I can't swallow pills, what are my options'
A. Drink water with AlkaLife® Alkaline Booster

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Q. What is the difference between Bicarb-Balance' and e-Cal''
A.
Bicarb-Balance' is a tablet consisting of 75% potassium bicarbonate and 25% sodium bicarbonate in an enteric-coated time release form.

e-Cal' is a tablet consisting of impurity-free calcium carbonate, which when entering the bloodstream, converts to calcium bicarbonate to replenish bicarbonates to the bloodstream for acid neutralization.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Q. Can I take AlkaLife® and Bicarb-Balance' or e-Cal' at the same time'
A. All three products are excellent mineral supplements, and you can do an either/or scenario, or two, even all three, can be taken simultaneously.  In these cases, you can take the recommended dosage of AlkaLife® along with one of the tablet supplements or a half dosage of Bicarb-Balance' and e-Cal' ,one in the morning and the other in the evening.  There is no need to worry about an excess of alkalinity, as the body will balance itself and discharge any excess alkaline minerals through urine and perspiration.  As we age, the content of bicarbonates diminishes, so this would not be considered an overdose.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Q. Why take e-Cal' versus Bicarb-Balance''
A. Kidney patients have to watch their potassium intake, so e-Cal' is an excellent choice as it is calcium based.  e-Cal' is a safe and beneficial form of calcium in the blood.  Not only does it provide bicarbonate to neutralize acid as it enters the bloodstream, but it also delivers active calcium back to the body.  e-Cal' is a win-win tablet because it delivers both calcium and bicarbonate to the bloodstream, two valuable elements we lose as we age.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Q. If I'm already taking a calcium supplement, do I stop taking it when I start taking e-Cal''
A. e-Cal' is primarily an alkaline booster, replenishing bicarbonates to the blood stream.  It also provides impurity-free calcium to the body, so it is a calcium supplement as well, but it is best to continue taking your calcium supplement, but taking it down to about  half the dosage and adding e-Cal' simultaneously to your supplemental diet.  2 tablets of e-Cal' contain 180 mg. of calcium.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Q. I was told that calcium must be accompanied by vitamin D for the body to absorb it. Does e-Cal' have vitamin D'
A. In normal calcium supplements, it is true that Vitamin D is necessary in order for the body to absorb the calcium.  In the case of e-Cal', the calcium is enteric coated and enters into the blood stream directly; therefore, it is not necessary to add Vitamin D for absorption.  Because of the fact that e-Cal' puts the calcium directly into the blood stream, AlkaLife International has taken special care to put our calcium through a special purification process as natural calcium carbonate contains impurities.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Q. Which one is better for which condition'
A.
All three are excellent for replenishing bicarbonates to the bloodstream to neutralize acid.

For those who cannot swallow tablets, we recommend AlkaLife®.

Both AlkaLife® and Bicarb-Balance' are excellent for conditions such as kidney stones and gall stones because the potassium and sodium dissolve the stones more readily.

For osteoporosis and for people on kidney dialysis e-Cal' is ideal.

For those who have achlorhydria or hypochlorhydria, a condition where their stomachs do not produce sufficient hydrochloric acid for digestion, it is best to take either Bicarb-Balance' or e-Cal' as their stomachs will not produce sufficient amounts of hydrochloric acid to produce, as a result, a sufficient amount of bicarbonates.  The tablets will supply the necessary bicarbonates directly to the bloodstream.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Q. Are AlkaLife products FDA approved'
A. None of our three alkaline booster products are food nor medicine; therefore, FDA does not approve nor disapprove of them.  However, FDA wants to know if they are toxic when consumed as directed.  Alkaline water made by AlkaLife®, Bicarb-Balance' and e-Cal', are tested to be non-toxic according to tests conducted by an FDA approved independent testing lab, following FDA approved test procedures.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Q. I already have the AlkaLife®, and I am drinking it. But I have some doubts, and I would like your explanation. I have a relative that has an infection in the kidneys and he is drinking AlkaLife®, but he is feeling some pain in the kidneys, is it related to the consumption of AlkaLife®'
A.
Kidney infections are caused by bacterias that thrive in an acidic environment. You see, our urine is acidic.  Drinking a lot of alkaline water makes urine alkaline.  I've had people tell me that their kidney infections had disappeared after drinking alkaline water.  If after drinking alkaline water, the pain persists, it may not be an infection.  Have him test for some other problem around the kidneys.

The plastic bottle that I am referring to in my book is the kind of bottle in which you purchase water at the supermarket, thin polyurethane plastic.  This particular kind of plastic passes carbon dioxides, reducing the pH value of the water.  The bottle that AlkaLife® comes in is a heavy-duty medical grade plastic that does not leak at all.

In a cheap thin plastic bottle, carbon dioxide mixes with alkaline water faster in warmer temperatures; therefore, it is better to refrigerate it.

Although the bottled alkaline water pH value may drop, the only reason for that is the infiltration of carbon dioxide.  Even in those cases, once the water is consumed, the lungs remove the carbon dioxide, thus restoring a part of the original alkalinity.

When there is an infection anywhere in the body, the white blood cells declare war on the infection, and the casualties from both sides are the dead cells, which are acidic.  If the body has plenty of alkalinity, it will neutralize these dead cells and dispose of them through urine; thus recovery is much more rapid. Alkaline water builds up immunity.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Q. What if I have osteoporosis and stones together'
A. The ideal combination would be to take both e-Cal' and Bicarb-Balance' but take one in the morning immediately after breakfast and the other 10-12 hours later after another meal.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Q. What about osteoporosis alone'
A. Any of the three products or a combination will work fine.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Q. Will your products help cataracts'
A.
Cataracts are acid salts building in your eyes.  As we get old, or as we stress our eyes, phosphoric acid or uric acid builds up in our eyes.  Since these acids are poisonous, the  body supplies calcium to neutralize the poisonous acids and they become acid salts such as phosphate, or urate.  These acid salts are not soluble and form opaque build-ups, called cataracts.  Bicarbonates supplied by either AlkaLife® or Bicarb-Balance' should dissolve acid salt in time.  Alkaline water made by a water ionizer or coral-calcium is based upon calcium based alkaline water.  Calcium cannot kick out calcium.  Alkaline water made with AlkaLife® and Bicarb-Balance' tablets are based upon potassium and sodium, which are stronger alkaline minerals than calcium, and they can kick out calcium from the acid salt.  A water softener uses this principle to kick out calcium from hard water using sodium salt.  Kidney stones dissolve better by AlkaLife® made alkaline water and Bicarb-Balance' tablets.  When potassium or sodium kicks out calcium, potassium or sodium combines with phosphoric acid or uric acid.  Fortunately, potassium or sodium compounds are very soluble, not like calcium, and they can be discharged easily into the blood stream.  It would take time, but with patience, you should see improvements. How long it would take depends upon how long and how much build-up there is.  If the cataracts are in an earlier stage of development it may take less time.

The best thing to do is to make the body alkaline so that it doesn't even develop acid salts.  Prevention is much better than treatment.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Q. How soon would I feel the effect(s) of drinking alkaline water or taking the alkaline booster tablets'
A.
It depends on the individual and the kind of symptoms you have.  Many customers experience relief of gout pain, acid reflux, morning sickness, kidney stones, fibromyalgia, high altitude sickness, high blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes, etc.  Some people feel the effects immediately (such as morning sickness and high altitude sickness).  Some symptoms, such as high blood pressure, gout, high cholesterol, may take several weeks or even months.  If you don't feel any symptoms, you may not notice any effect.  However, rest assured that the bicarbonates, by way of AlkaLife®, Bicarb-Balance', or e-Cal', are neutralizing acidic wastes accumulated somewhere in your body.  Remember that cancer cells are also acidic and thrive in an acidic environment.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Q. Are Bicarb-Balance' and e-Cal' FDA approved'
A. The amount of minerals in both Bicarb-Balance' and e-Cal' tablets is so minimal that the FDA does not regard them as pharmaceutical products. As such, there is no need to approve nor disapprove of them. They are simply classified by the FDA as mineral supplements.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Q. What about antacids, such as Tums, instead of AlkaLife®, Bicarb-Balance' or e-Cal''
A. Have you read all the ingredients in antacids'  Antacids are for temporary relief of excess stomach acid only, not for continued consumption to neutralize excess accumulated acidic wastes throughout our body.  Drinking water with AlkaLife® and/or taking Bicarb-Balance' and e-Cal' are lifestyle changes; it's a daily preventative practice over time to maintain good health.  With all the ingredients in antacids, it is not recommended for long-term use.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Q. What about Bicarb-Balance' or e-Cal' versus Tums'
A. Again, antacids such as Tums, will be neutralized immediately in the stomach by hydrochloric acid with the immediate function of temporary relief of excess stomach acid.  Both Bicarb-Balance' and e-Cal' have an enteric coating and time release formula to bypass stomach acid with the primary objective of replenishing bicarbonates to the bloodstream.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Q. What are the differences between AlkaLife®, Bicarb-Balance', and e-Cal''
A.
All three products add life-sustaining alkaline buffer, bicarbonate, to the bloodstream.  Medical science has discovered that we lose bicarbonate in the blood as we age, especially after the age of 45. (See article #25 of "Science and Health" section of this Website).  Now the difference between AlkaLife®, Bicarb-Balance', and e-Cal'...

AlkaLife® puts bicarbonates into the bloodstream indirectly through the action of the stomach.  When you drink high pH alkaline water made by AlkaLife®, the stomach pH rises too high for the stomach, and it induces the stomach to produce hydrochloric acid and put it into the stomach.  At the same time, the stomach also produces bicarbonate and puts it in the bloodstream (See article #3 for details).  If the stomach is overly acidic, drinking alkaline water may not raise the stomach pH high enough, and therefore, the production of hydrochloric acid may be small, and consequently, the bicarbonate production will be minimal as well.  Bicarb-Balance' and e-Cal' do not dissolve in the stomach, they dissolve slowly in the intestine and the bicarbonate goes directly into the bloodstream from the intestine.  They do not depend upon the condition of the stomach and are much more convenient than drinking 5 glasses of water a day.  You can take Bicarb-Balance' and e-Cal' and drink alkaline water made by AlkaLife®.  Even taking all three will not over-alkalize you but will help you get rid of acid faster.  If you take more than needed, your body will dump the excess alkalinity and your urine will become alkaline.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Q. Can Bicarb-Balance' and e-Cal' tablets be broken in half for easier swallowing'
A. Absolutely not.  Do not break the tablets for easier swallowing because it will break the enteric coating.  For those who cannot swallow tablets, AlkaLife® is a better recommendation.
